Replication Data for: 2025 Tapestry Dataset

The dataset is a lot‑level panel of 168 tapestries sold at auction in 2025, combining object characteristics with sale information. Each observation corresponds to a single tapestry and includes identifiers (work ID, sale ID, lot number), sale metadata (auction house, sale title, venue, date, currency, low and high estimates, hammer price), and rich object‑level descriptors: lissier/manufacture, possible designer (“d’après les cartons de”), century and year of creation, geographic origin, height and width in centimetres, material, and a restoration flag. A long free‑text description field reproduces the catalogue entry, often containing iconographic, provenance, bibliographic and condition information, while additional columns record the expert in charge and the number of lots in the sale, allowing segmentation by house, place, period and type of tapestry.
