DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF MEDIATION PROCESSES IN THE 21ST CENTURY CONFLICT SYSTEM

This study explores the transformation of mediation in the 21st century within the context of globalization, digitalization, and increasing socio-political complexity. It argues that mediation has evolved from a traditional conflict resolution tool into a multifunctional, interdisciplinary, and systemic mechanism applied across international diplomacy, domestic governance, economic regulation, environmental disputes, and information security. This transformation is conceptualized as the “functional extension of mediation,” reflecting its expanded objectives and scope in modern conflict studies.
