This dataset contains 16S rRNA sequencing data generated from fecal samples of wild and captive Sichuan snub-nosed monkeys (Rhinopithecus roxellana). A total of 9 wild and 10 captive snub-nosed monkeys were sampled and their fecal samples were transported on dry ice and stored at -80C. DNA extractions were performed using the QIAamp DNA Stool Mini Kit (Qiagen, Valencia, CA, USA). The DNA samples were sequenced on a Sequel II Sequencing Kit 2.0 platform (from Pacific Bioscience, California, USA). The dataset provides information on the composition and diversity of the gut microbiomes of wild and captive snub-nosed monkeys, which can inform our understanding of the impact of captivity on the gut microbiomes of non-human primates.
