资源简介:
A closeup of five men in the digging of the Third Street tunnel, Los Angeles, California, USA, circa 1900. The men are shown next to wooden supports, the excavated site, and holding picks and shoves, though two of the men are holding what may be dynamite fuses and lighters. The upper right and lower left corners are gone, so that part or most of two men at the right are missing. Ink inscriptions on the reverse identify the project and the man in the center, Tom Conneff, a laborer and miner. The tunnel was started in 1899, completed in 1901, and widened and improved since. Other inscriptions give his wife's name (Annie) and state she was the aunt of the inscriber. Because of the significant losses, creases, and soiling, the condition is poor.
