Dataset derived from a fungicide effect study. Black alder leaves were conditioned in a reference stream for two weeks and acclimatized to laboratory conditions for one week before a three-week exposure experiment of preconditioned leaves in untreated and penconazole treated flask microcosms and stream channels with weekly samplings in all systems. After the last sampling of preconditioned leaves, a further batch of sterile leaves were introduced into the stream channels and sampled after 85 days to study fungicide induced effects on the long-term recolonization of leaves. The specific goals of the study were to investigate (i) whether the fungicide induces shifts in the fungal community that can be detected via HTS of the fungal rDNA operon, (ii) if different sensitivities of certain fungal species towards fungicide stress can be confirmed, and (iii) which differences in the fungal community composition may occur due to the different complexities of flask microcosms, stream channels, and the reference stream as well as due to the different approaches of using preconditioned leaves or colonizing leaves in the stream channels.
