This paper investigates the applicability of three methods, namely the watershed algorithm, fourth-order polynomial fitting, and point cloud-based distance discriminant clustering, for individual tree segmentation in planted forests. It analyzes the segmentation accuracy of these three methods for individual trees in planted forests, and explores the optimal selection of key parameters for each method when performing individual tree segmentation. Results show that when conducting individual tree segmentation on multiple types of sample plots, the aforementioned three methods demonstrate their applicability to individual tree segmentation in planted forests.
