MMCRP

Combined with the regulations of weather station siting and the high mobility of portable weather stations, an MMCRP model is proposed in response to the time-varying characteristics of rainfall in urban areas and the demand for refined monitoring. The continuous monitoring time period is divided into several subperiods, and portable weather stations are added and relocated according to the changing monitoring demands. The model aims to maximize the coverage benefits first and minimize the total travel costs subsequently. In addition, the effective monitoring time is included in the model to ensure the data quality. The model applicability is verified through a test case in Wuhan City. Results show the model can effectively provide optimal locations and paths of portable weather stations during repositioning, responding to rainfall monitoring demands with drastic spatial-temporal variations in a more flexible and timely manner.
