Data and R code for multi-species occupancy models of lar and pileated gibbons in their hybrid zone

This repository contains the data and R code used to analyse the spatial distribution and coexistence of lar gibbons, pileated gibbons, and hybrid/mixed-species groups in Khao Yai National Park, Thailand using multi-species occupancy models. Occupancy datasets lar.data.csv, pil.data.csv, and hymx.data.csv contain detection/non-detection data from five survey visits conducted at 70 listening points across the study area. These files correspond respectively to lar gibbons, pileated gibbons, and hybrid or mixed-species groups. In addition to detection histories, the files include site-level environmental covariates associated with each listening point. Environmental spatial data hex.table.csv contains environmental covariates extracted for a grid of hexagonal spatial units covering the study area. hexagons.shp, hexagons.shx, hexagons.dbf, and hexagons.prj provide the geographic shapefile of the hexagonal grid used for spatial analyses. Covariate descriptions Elev – elevation (m); mean elevation within the hexagon unit. Slope – mean slope within the hexagon unit. sas.p – percentage of south-facing slopes within the hexagon unit. For.in – standard deviation of NDVI within the hexagon unit, used as an index of forest structural heterogeneity. Moist – percentage of primary forest within the hexagon unit. Stream – total length of streams (m) within the hexagon unit.
