ERA5 cyclone tracks

Cyclone positions and tracks derived from the ERA5 dataset. The detection and tracking is following the Melbourne detection and tracking algorithm of Murray and Simmonds (1991a,b) in general approach. Cyclones are detected at the locations of maxima in the Laplacian of sea-level pressure and tracked in time by matching the locations at which cyclones are detected with the locations at which previous cyclones are expected to have moved. In contrast to Murray and Simmonds (1991a,b), we derive expected cyclone positions from its previous movement using a Kalman filter.
