Transcriptomic profile of the false coral Savalia savaglia

Colonies of Savalia savaglia were collected from a depth of 38 meters at Banco di Santa Croce in the Gulf of Naples, Italy. Total RNA was extracted and libraries were prepared using the Zymo-Seq RiboFree Total RNA Library Preparation Kit (Zymo Research Corp., Irvine, CA) following the manufacturer's instructions for fr-first strand library type. The RNA samples were quantified and assessed for quality using either the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer RNA assay (Agilent Technologies, Santa Clara, CA) or the Caliper (PerkinElmer, Waltham, MA). The final libraries were evaluated with both the Qubit 2.0 Fluorometer (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA) and the Agilent Bioanalyzer DNA assay or Caliper. The libraries were then sequenced on the NovaSeq 6000 platform (Illumina, San Diego, CA) in paired-end 150 bp mode, resulting in 68 million reads.
