Paediatric suicide data

A comprehensible time series dataset (years 1980–2023) containing Swedish cause-of-death data and population data for children aged 10–17 years. Data for the age group 10–14 are shown separately. The variable columns contain information on year, age, sex, annual suicide count, and the corresponding mid year population count. Additionally, the dataset includes a variable of annual suicide counts in which zeros have been replaced with the value 0.5 (suffix: “_IMP”), which is used as the numerator to pre calculate crude rates per 100,000 capita (suffix: “_IMP”).
The data are stratified by age and sex categories in a long format structure and comprise 264 rows of data (44 years × 6 subgroups). Version 2 of the dataset has been created to enable analysis of both sexes jointly and/or separately. Version 1 only allowed sex separated analyses. Version 2 is therefore very similar to Version 1 and represents a configuration that can be derived from Version 1. The derivation is performed by adding column values referring to age and sex, after which the new column values are stacked in a long format structure. No deaths with undetermined intent are included in Version 2.
