It is one of the six ESKAPE pathogens (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumanni, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter species) causing hospital infections. These infections predominantly affect immunocompromised individuals and manifest as urinary tract, respiratory tract, bloodstream, and surgical site infections.
