Genetic sequencing of Dacryodes edulis

The history of the cultivation of African rainforest food trees is poorly documented. Nevertheless, they are emblematic biological models that can be used to explore the relationships between humans and nature in tropical rainforests, as well as the domestication processes that accompanied the development of agriculture in these regions. Here, we explore these processes through a genetic lens, focusing on a key fruit tree species that is cultivated across Central Africa and is of major nutritional and cultural significance to local populations, Dacryodes edulis.
