VPRS 16144 Register of Claims for Compensation and Valuation Appeals

In Victoria, dispute about compensation for, or, valuation of land acquired by an authority, and appeals following objections to valuation for rating and taxing purposes were heard either by a Land and Valuation Board of Review or the Supreme Court, depending on the amount of compensation claimed or the amount of the disputed valuation.This series was created to register claims for compensation against publicauthorities and instrumentalities.Information recorded includes:- claim number,- name of the claimant or appellant,- acquiring authority (e.g., State Electricity Commission Victoria (S.E.C.V.), Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works (MMBW), Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board (M & MTB), State Rivers and Water Supply Commission (SRWSC)- decision of the Board.Separate registers of rating, taxing appeals and land tax were created (refer to VPRS 16145).
