资源简介:
Site 42CB 1279 in Carbon County, Utah, exhibits rock art evidence of occupations during
the Archaic, Fremont, and probable Numic (Ute) time period affiliations. A shallow alcove
adjacent to the rock art panels contained a single-component Numic (Ute) occupation. A cultural
horizon in the alcove exhibited charcoal-stained soil, faunal materials, and lithic artifacts. No
hearth, processing pits, or groundstone were noted in the occupational layer. Pollen and
floatation samples were collected from Unit 3 and examined to identify any evidence of economic
activity associated with this cultural horizon. A single projectile point from Test Unit 3 also was
submitted for protein residue analysis to provide information concerning possible animal
resources that were utilized.
