It provides data on the status, pressures and protection measures of European rivers, lakes and groundwater. This database supports the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD), and contains data collected by EU member states, policy profiles at both EU and national levels, map viewing tools, and other relevant resources. It aims to help strike a balance between securing high-quality water for human health, economic activities and natural ecosystem needs, and address the challenges posed by climate change, including extreme weather events and water scarcity.
