资源简介:
The dataset consists of two .docx files: Table S1.docx and Table S2.docx.Table S1.docx shows a database of 239 human testis-specific genes. The table consists of eight columns with eight different parameters. These are:-Index: Includes numbers 1 to 239, corresponding to a total of 239 genes expressed specifically in the human testis.-Gene: This column provides names of the human testis-specific genes.-Chr: Chromosome number where the human testis-specific gene is located. -Expa: ExpRPKM: Expression in Reads per Kilobase of transcript per Million mapped reads, a measure of transcript expression level for the specified gene.-CGIb: Indicates the presence of a CpG island within the promoter region of the specified gene. A CpG island is a short stretch of DNA with a higher frequency of the CG sequence than other regions.-Promoter: Indicates the presence or absence of a promoter region within a specified gene.-IGc: Indicates genes lacking intron sequences (intronless genes).-Testis cell type: Cell type in the human testis, in which the specified gene is expressed in.
Table S2.docx shows a database of human testis-specific genes that contain a promoter and a transcription factor binding site near the transcription start site. The table consists of 5 columns with 5 different parameters. These are:-Index: A number (from 1 to 239) corresponding to a specific gene. -Gene: This column provides names of the human testis-specific genes.-Chr: Chromosome number where the human testis-specific gene is located. -TF(s) at Transcription Start Site: Name of transcription factor or transcription factors at the transcription start site, followed by the genomic coordinates of the transcription factor binding site.-Nucleotide Sequence: Nucleotide (DNA) sequence of the transcription factor binding site.
This work describes the results of other studies that were carried out to examine genes expressed specifically in the human testis, with the aim of creating a gene set representative of all testis-specific genes.
The database of human testis-specific genes shown in Table S1, contains a total of 239 genes. Each of these genes was annotated to be highly specific for testis in both the UCSU Genome Browser (version hg38, 2013 [https://genome.ucsc.edu/] and the NCBI gene reference [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/].The properties of the 239 human testis-specific genes were examined. These included: the presence of a gene promoter sequence, the presence of a CpG island within the promoter, the presence of a transcription factor binding site near the transcription start site of a promoter and the level of gene expression. Genes lacking introns (intronless genes) as well as testis-specific genes expressed in distinct cell types (eg. spermatocytes, spermatids and spermatogonia) were also identified.
