Images from a Strip, Map and Record Excavation Exercise at 9 The Tene, Baldock, June 2018

This digital archive contains images from a strip, map and record exercise on the excavation of the footprint of the new extension in response to a condition on the planning permission for an extension at 9 The Tene, Baldock, the Heritage Network was commissioned by the landowners to undertake the work in June 2018. The recorded stratigraphy, which consisted of topsoil over subsoil, indicates that the site has not been subject to significant ground reduction in the recent past. Modern disturbance was noted, including a soakaway at the north-eastern end of Trench 1 and a live drain which bisected the site. A single feature was encountered at the south-eastern end of Trench 1.
