The Organization Database 2024 (County Council Organisation)

The Organization Database is a database that describes the organization of municipal and county municipal organizations from 1995 to the present day. It provides valuable insights into how Norwegian counties and municipalities choose to organize themselves and how this has developed over time. The Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development (KDD) funds the data collection.

Since 1996, data collection has occurred every fourth year, in the year following local elections. The latest data collection was conducted in 2024. The data material describes both how municipalities and county municipalities are organized as political entities and how the administrative apparatus is structured. Additionally, emphasis is placed on mapping how municipalities solve their tasks and how the operations themselves are organized. Another central theme is the relationship of municipalities and county municipalities with citizens and their role as local democratic units.
