33 Petunia chitinase-like genes from the most recent data in the petunia genome database were identified (Liu et al., 2022). The results of the qRT-PCR analysis indicated that PhCTL1 (petunia chitinase-like gene 1) exhibited elevated expression levels during the flowering stages of the plants. In light of these findings, the present study was undertaken to identify and verify the function of PhCTL1. The data presented here is derived from RNA-Seq experiments conducted on flower buds of Petunia plants with suppressed expression of PaCTL1, as well as wild-type controls.
