VPRS 11552 National Parks General Correspondence Files, Multiple Number System

This series constitutes the general correspondence for the National Parks Authority and the National Parks Service during the period 1956-1976. During this period, responsibility for National Parks lay first with the Department of the Premier, then with the Department of State Development and then with the Ministry for Conservation.It is estimated that 20-30% of all files registered were later top-numbered into the subsequent series, VPRS 11553 General Correspondence Files, Annual Single Number System, 1976-1984.Further, files were culled from this record series in accordance with the provisions of a disposal schedule issued by the Keeper of Public Records in 1980.
