The Department of Natural Resources and Mines (DNRM) Surface Water Ambient Water Quality Network (SWAN, WQ) (dataset WM1112) monitoring includes either time series (continuous) measurements via electronic sensors, or discrete water sample collection which is laboratory analysed, or a combination of both. This relies on long term monitoring over the full range of flows, so that the effects of seasonality, extreme flow events and non-uniform variance are accounted for.
