Genotype Influence on Intestinal Microbiota in the Rabbit Model

In recent years, interest in the gut microbiome has increased due to the growing recognition of its impact on health and productivity. Therefore, understanding the factors that influence its composition has generated great interest within the scientific community. The gut microbiota, characterized as a complex ecosystem, hosts a variety of components whose properties are determined by a combination of external and internal effects. Despite the effort invested in its study so far, it is still difficult to assess the impact of genetics on the shaping of gut microbiota composition. Thus, the aim of this experiment is to investigate the cecal microbiota in rabbits from two different genetic lines (LP and A), raised under the same environmental conditions. For this purpose, the microbiota will be analyzed through PacBio sequencing of cecal content samples from the animals and the barn environment.
