Grounded Theory (GT) is a methodological approach that allows us to address complex and little-known phenomena, making theory emerge from data through an inductive path. The contribution describes how GT was adopted in research relating to Outdoor Education, conducted within Italian primary schools. Given the complexity of the phenomenon, this methodological approach was chosen, in which the saturation of the categories was achieved through a triangulation of the data, using different data collection methods and different sources. This contribution reports those elements of evidence that show how it is possible to use GT in research that addresses innovative and prospective topics.
