The Pay topic measures an economy’s laws affecting occupational segregation and the gender wage gaps, including equal remuneration for work of equal value and restrictions on employment at night, in certain economic sectors, or in jobs deemed dangerous. It further considers policies such as measures for enforcing transparency in pay, occupational health and safety, support for women’s work in male-dominated sectors, and publication of sex-disaggregated employment and wage data.
The expert perception dimension assesses the extent to which laws on occupational segregation and the gender wage gap are enforced in practice.
