Residual dry matter (rdm) was collected at Kenneth S. Norris Rancho Marino Reserve (https://ucnrs.org/reserves/kenneth-s-norris-rancho-marino-reserve/). A total of twenty 12m transects were deployed running parallel to the coastline from north to south. At every 2m instance, beginning at 2m, a 10cm x 10cm quadrat was used to harvest all dry matter within plots. Transects were parallel to one another with the vector 'transect' in RDM data describing increasing distances from the coastline. Material was weighed and reported here in grams. The hypothesis tested was that distance from the coastline influences RDM in Coastal Terrace Prairie Grasslands and that there is significant spatial heterogeneity in this proxy for productivity.
