资源简介:
In 2010, New York State Department of Transportation requested a monitoring plan for areas where deposits associated with the prehistoric and historic occupation of the property may be encountered within the PIN 1805.81 project area. previous investigations indicated it is likely that the depth of these deposits may range from a few centimeters below ground surface to a meter or more depending upon the topographic conditions and historic occupation of the area. The archaeological monitoring and potential data recovery will be implemented during construction, since the project area is not accessible for archaeological testing prior to construction.
A check of the site files at the New York State Museum (NYSM) and the Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) showed that six prehistoric sites, 10 historic sites and two National Register sites within 3.2 km. of the project area. Six of those sites are known prehistoric sites dating to as old as the archaic.
The document relates protocols and procedures for consultation and data recovery, as well as an outline of both archaeologists’ and contractors’ responsibilities over the course of PIN 1805.81.
