Matlab code for generating the figure shown in the manuscript "Mathematical model for evaluating bicarbonate and lactate kinetics in metformin-associated lactic acidosis". To start the simulation it is sufficient to run the script called "CRRT_Comparison_MAIN.m".The mathematical model is the same published in "Pietribiasi M, Waniewski J, Leypoldt JK (2023) Mathematical modelling of bicarbonate supplementation and acid-base chemistry in kidney failure patients on hemodialysis. PLOS ONE 18(2): e0282104. https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0282104" and was adapted from the work of Rees and Andreassen: "Rees SE, Andreassen S. Mathematical models of oxygen and carbon dioxide storage and transport: the acid-base chemistry of blood. Crit Rev Biomed Eng. 2005" and "Andreassen S, Rees SE. Mathematical models of oxygen and carbon dioxide storage and transport: interstitial fluid and tissue stores and whole-body transport. Crit Rev Biomed Eng. 2005".The model was originally developed as part of the project "Optimizing dialysate bicarbonate concentration during hemodialysis by mathematical modeling", funded by the Polish National Science Center (grant number 2017/27/B/ST7/03029).
