The Volunteer Force Regulation Act of 1867 (31 Vic. No.5) sections 44 and 45 provided for free grants of land to those volunteers who provided a certificate showing five years' efficient service from the officer commanding the Volunteer Force.Arranged under each letter of the alphabet, the volume records registered number, name, rank, and corps of the persons to whom the land orders were issued, and the date of issue. The list was signed by the Acting Major of Brigade on 24 August 1882 and transmitted to the Under Secretary of Lands with Alienation 82/9165.(4/8075; microfilm copy SR Reel 2655). 1 vol.
