A novel method for microwave frequency measurement based on frequency-to-time mapping

A novel method is proposed and demonstrated for measuring microwave frequency based on frequency-to-time mapping in this paper. The system utilizes a linear frequency modulation (LFM) source as a time-domain frequency ruler, along with a reference microwave source for calibration. By mixing the LFM signal with the measured and reference signals and applying a low-pass filter, the measured information is mapped into time domain. A cross-correlation algorithm is then employed to decode the measured frequency, phase, and amplitude information.
