This anonymous dataset contains detailed information collected via phone interview from n=1,437 farmers in India between 3 to 15 May 2020. This coincided with a nation-wide complete lockdown that started on 25 March 2020. The same farmers were followed up twice during phased re-opening, which started on 8 June 2020. The first follow-up survey (fu1) was conducted from 3 to 19 June 2020 (n=1,052 [73%] responded) and the second follow-up survey (fu2) from 20 July to 12 August 2020 (n=934 [65%] responded). Variables include: demographics, socioeconomic status, cultivation practices including cropping patterns, yield, cost of cultivation, loans, government support including rations and cash transfers, sale of household assets, wages, livestock and fishing income, kitchen gardens, food insecurity, and dietary intake.
