The water depth and temperature data was collected from more than a dozen ships. The data was collected from TOGA (Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere) Area in the Pacific from November 1981 to February 1990. The originator's bathythermograph (XBT) data with 1,353 observations was submitted in a diskette by Jean-Paul Rebert of Institut Francais de Recherche pour l'Exploitation de la MER (IFREMER), Brest, France. The data has been processed and is now available on line in C116 Bathythermograph XBT as well as C125 Bathythermograph XBT selected depth file formats of NODC.
