Regulation of phosphoinositide signalling in breast cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer and second leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide. The protein PIPP is a tumour suppressor that is lost in a subset of breast cancers associated with poor prognosis. Loss of PIPP leads to increased tumour growth, however, decreased metastasis. This thesis contributes to our knowledge of the mechanisms by which PIPP regulates breast cancer. Understanding these complex signalling pathways is critical for the development of novel therapeutic strategies to treat breast cancer metastasis which causes 90% of breast cancer related deaths.
