Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the most important staple food crop, serving as a significant source of calories for more than 50% population, worldwide . Rice blast is aggressive and damaging disease, caused by hemibiotrophic fungus Magnaporthe oryzae, which affect all parts of rice plants at seedling-harvesting stage, resulting 10-30% crop yield losses globally. Due to its significant economic important, the rice-M. oryzae pathosystem has become a key model for studying defense mechanisms of rice against M. oryzae. Monogenic lines such as; IRBLta2-Pi was developed from LTH, harboring Pita2 gene which showed broad spectrum resistance against rice blast isolates. However, the defense mechanisms regulated by this gene in IRBLta2-Pi line is remain poorly understood.
