Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation for the A358 Taunton to Southfields Dualling Scheme, Somerset 2021-2022

This collection comprises reports, photographs, excavation records and post-excavation data from an Archaeological Trial Trenching evaluation carried out between December 2021 and September 2022 by Connect Archaeology as part of the A358 Taunton to Southfields Dualling Scheme. The area covered by archaeological works comprised approximately 236ha of agricultural land, encompassing parts of the M5 from Taunton in the north-west to the Southfields Roundabout in the south-east. Potential archaeological features were encountered 164 trenches, largely located to the northern and southern extents of the scheme, with a particular concentration in the south. Bronze and Iron Age finds, such as flint and pottery, were recovered from several trenches.
