Dickeya zeae is a gram negative and is the causal agent of maize stalk rot, rice foot rot, banana soft rot and pineapple heart rot diseases. Dickeya zeae was reported as a heart rot pathogen on pineapple which are coming from Philippine and Costa Rica/Honduras. These pineapples had a different origin and infected with Dickeya zeae (Sueno et al 2014). Based on this information, the analysis of complete genome of Dickeya zeae strains which are from pineapple field and a new strain from taro would be provide new species into the Dickeya genera.
