The Sound of the Violin's Home: A Higher-Order Room Impulse Response Dataset of the Arvedi Auditorium in Cremona

Open dataset of spatial room impulse responses (RIRs) measured at the Arvedi Auditorium in Cremona, Italy, a contemporary concert hall located within the Museo del Violino complex and dedicated to the performance and recording of string instruments. The measurements were acquired using 8-capsule spherical microphone arrays positioned at 65 receiver locations across the audience area. Five sources were deployed on stage: an omnidirectional reference at the geometric center of the stage, and four directional loudspeakers placed at the canonical positions of a string quartet or small ensemble. For each of the 325 source–receiver combinations, the dataset includes the raw 8-channel impulse responses sampled at 48kHz and the corresponding measurement geometry. An acoustic characterization of the hall is provided in terms of reverberation time and direct-to-reverberant ratio, complemented by a spatial analysis of direction-of-arrival estimation accuracy across the audience area. The dataset is publicly released to support research in spatial audio, signal processing, and music information retrieval.
