Dataset for statistical spatial wave downscaling in the Black Sea from the global ERA5 dataset

This dataset is for spatial downscaling of significant wave height (SWH) in the Black Sea using low-resolution data from ERA5 and high-resolution data from Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS). Both self-variable downscaling from low-resolutoin SWH and cross-variable downscaling from low-resolution wind fields are applied. The spatial coverage is E27.2°-E42°, and N40.5°-N47.0°, and the temporal coverage is 2018-2024. Files 'era5_BlackSea_wave.tar.gz' and 'era5_BlackSea_wind.tar.gz' are SWH and wind data from ERA5, respectively. The resolutions for wave and wind are 0.5°×0.5° and 0.25°×0.25°, respectively. File 'cmems_wave_BlackSea.tar.gz' contains SWH data from CMEMS, with a resolution of 0.025°×0.025°. Main files used to download data from ERA5: 'download_cds_wave_blacksea_swh.py', 'download_cds_wind.py' and the corresponding bash files 'run_download_cds_BlackSea_swh.sh' and 'run_download_cds_wind_BlackSea.sh'. Main files used to download SWH data from CMEMS: 'download_wave_blacksea_swh.py' and 'run_download_BlackSea_swh.sh'. These files may subject to changes due to updates in the data format and default downloading toolboxes (from the corresponding data providers).
