The project involves measurement and comparison of N2O emissions and N dynamics in three commonly practiced dryland cropping rotation systems typical of northwest NSW. We will also compare emissions from a range of pulse legume species used within these systems. Results will be used for greenhouse gas emissions calculations for the northern region dryland cropping industry, and will be packaged for farmers so that they can mitigate fertiliser-N associated emissions. Data will be available to an overarching DAFF project for modelling emissions across agricultural industries.
