APC data collection template

Jisc Collections is collecting data on article processing charge (APC) payments made by UK higher education institutions (HEIs). This is something that Jisc can help all HEIs with on an ongoing basis. This template spreadsheet has been designed to be used by HEIs to record and monitor their APC payments. Using a standard template will help to produce comparable data between institutions which can be more easily aggregated. The data fields have been chosen from careful analysis of HEI needs. This means the spreadsheet can be used for both internal reporting, and external reporting to the Charity Open Access Fund (COAF) for compliance monitoring. Transparency of APC payments can help us to understand the current state of expenditure on APCs and will lead to greater understanding of the scholarly communication system. The existing columns in the template should not be changed, but HEIs are free to add any additional fields. This allows the template to remain standardised and interoperable while also being extensible. Jisc Collections can do this on behalf of institutions if necessary. Jisc Collections will also aggregate the data from all participating institutions.
