The Black Hole Universe Theory explores the possibility that our observable universe exists inside an unimaginably large black hole. In this paper, Luke Aberdein and Jake Strydom, Grade 10 students at WBHS, examine existing ideas in astrophysics and present what they believe may be evidence supporting this hypothesis. By combining concepts such as black holes, Hawking radiation, event horizons, spaghettification, and the Big Bang, the paper argues that several observations appear to fit the idea that our universe could be the interior of a black hole. The first argument compares the estimated distance between the event horizon and the point of spaghettification in a universe-sized black hole with the age and predicted lifetime of the universe. The second examines whether the energy released during the complete evaporation of such a black hole—approximately 2.66 × 10⁷⁷ joules—could be related to the energy associated with the Big Bang. The paper also explores the possibility that universes exist in a repeating cosmic cycle, where a universe collapses into a black hole, the black hole eventually evaporates, and the released energy gives rise to a new universe. The authors believe their analysis may provide evidence supporting the Black Hole Universe Theory, although these ideas have not been confirmed by the scientific community and remain speculative.
