Primary Dataset of Direct Medical Costs in Women with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Attended in Primary Health Care in Mexico

This primary dataset contains anonymized information from women diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus attended between 2020 and 2021 in a primary health care unit in Mexico. The dataset integrates sociodemographic, clinical, and pharmacoeconomic variables related to direct medical costs associated with disease management. The dataset includes information on age, body mass index, family history, comorbidities, pharmacological treatment type, medications used, hospitalization, emergency department admissions, and direct medical costs associated with treatment. Considered costs include pharmacological treatment, outpatient consultations, hospitalization, emergency admissions, and laboratory studies. To facilitate international comparability and academic reuse, all costs were expressed in U.S. dollars (USD) using the exchange rate corresponding to July 2021. Medication names were standardized using generic denominations, removing information related to dosage and administration frequency. All data were previously anonymized and do not contain information allowing direct or indirect participant identification. The dataset derives from a pharmacoeconomic study previously approved by ethics and research committees and is shared exclusively for academic, scientific, and educational purposes.
