资源简介:
Samples from the fill of four hearth features at site MOC SD 3-4-2 and one hearth
feature at 48SW10697(MOC WAM 2-4-18) were examined for macrofloral remains. These
sites represent large prehistoric camps in southern Wyoming. The hearth from
48SW10697(MOC WAM 2-4-18) and one of the hearths from MOC SD 3-4-2 represent Middle
Archaic occupations of the area with radiocarbon dates of 3810 ± 50 BP and 3620 ± 50 BP,
respectively. A Late Archaic occupation is represented by Hearth 24 (1670 ± 60 BP), while
Hearth 1 (1020 ± 50 BP) and Hearth 2 (1000 ± 60 BP) at MOC SD 3-4-2 reflect Late Prehistoric
use of the area. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide subsistence information concerning
plant resources utilized by the various occupants of these sites.
