Salmonella Typhi Genome sequencing. Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhi strain:IMR_TP298/15

Salmonella Typhi is the causative agent of typhoid, which is a food and waterborne disease. This Salmonella Typhi is non-susceptible to ciprofloxacin which is the first line of antibiotic used for the treatment of typhoid in Malaysia. Salmonella Typhi non-susceptible to ciprofloxacin is uncommon in Malaysia. The fact that this isolate was isolated from an outbreak of typhoid that occurred in the Klang Valley in Malaysia is a cause of concern. By studying the genomic sequence of this isolate, we hope to gain insight into the genetic basis of the antibiotic resistance in this strain.
