NRS-4520 | Despatches to the Secretary of State and general correspondence relative to Norfolk Island

Copies of letters from the Governor and Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, government officials on Norfolk Island and private persons, with a brief description of enclosures. They are concerned with such matters as the importation of liquor by the Melanesian Mission, the destruction of the Church, sending salaries to officials, the Island's medical service, the appointment of a Post Master and surgeons, the public accounts, and grants and purchases of land. Also enclosed are copies of the Capital and Current Accounts of Norfolk for the years ending 31 December 1874, 1875, and 1879, together with a report of the Governor's visit to Norfolk in 1875 (dealing with the land question, the Island's laws, and the health and nature of the inhabitants).
