A Dataset of Earth Observation Data for Building Detection

This dataset contains a curated collection of Sentinel-2 multispectral satellite images centered on airstrip locations across Brazil from the Earthrise Media Mining Detector data, with a focus on detecting and analyzing buildings in their vicinity. It is designed to support research in remote sensing, computer vision, and infrastructure mapping, particularly for understanding settlement patterns and human activity around airstrips in diverse Brazilian landscapes, from remote Amazonian communities to coastal cities and agricultural regions.

The imagery consists of Level-2A Sentinel-2 data (atmospherically corrected) at 10 m, 20 m, and 60 m resolutions, spanning multiple spectral bands from visible to shortwave infrared (SWIR). Each image tile is centered on a known airstrip, with associated metadata detailing acquisition date, geographic coordinates, and Sentinel-2 scene identifiers.

Labels: Binary masks,  mapping building footprints within a defined radius of the airstrip center.
