Study on microbial dysbiosis and microRNA deregulation as a basis of the therapy individualization in pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease

This study aims to elucidate the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in diagnosing and managing pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PIBD). It identifies PIBD-specific miRNAs by profiling their expression in tissue from newly diagnosed treatment-naive IBD patients (with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) and non-IBD controls. Additionally, it seeks to establish predictive miRNA signatures to identify patients with poor disease prognosis. Key candidate miRNAs will be validated in an independent cohort. The long-term goal is to improve diagnostic and therapeutic approaches and to create the basis for personalized medicine in PIBD.
