Biocontrol of root rot disease of Angelica sinensis by manipulating the rhizosphere microbiome and metabolome

The famous Chinese medicinal herb Angelica sinensis is primarily cultivated in northwest China. However, the extensive use of chemical pesticides and continuous cultivation has led to a widespread occurrence of soil-borne diseases causing root rot in angelica plants. This not only results in reduced yield but also affects the quality and concentration of active components in Angelica sinensis. Although we successfully controlled angelica root rot on a large scale using a novel plant-derived biopesticide but the underlying control mechanism remains poorly understood
