Effects of Asaia inoculation on size and development of Culex pipiens molestus

e aimed to test how inoculation of larvae lab grown mosquitoes with putative mutualists (Asaia spp) affected growth rates and adult size. We inoculated larvae with one of two species A. krungthepensis or A. bogorensis or a blank control and used two different modes of inoculation a 24 h exposure or continuous exposure. The experiment followed a factorial design and were carried out at the University of Wageningen. To test for effects of Asaia inoculation on the larval microbiome we performed bacterial 16SrRNA amplicon sequencing on three day old larvae and newly formed pupae.
