Example Dataset for "Statistical Downscaling of Multiple Atmospheric Variables over Europe using Super-Resolution Transformer"

This dataset includes example dataset files for the research paper titled "Statistical Downscaling of Multiple Atmospheric Variables over Europe using Super-Resolution Transformer", which is currently under review. This study introduces a Super-Resolution Transformer for downscaling of multiple atmospheric variables. For further information and the source code, we refer to the accompaning GitHub Repository. Data Overview Example Evaluation Data The data used in this study stems from the public ERA5 and CERRA datasets, as well as observational data from the Integrated Surface Database project and Germany's National Meteorological Service (DWD). Period Coverage: Training Data: 2010-2018 Validation Data: 2019 Testing Data: 2020 - June 2021 Dataset Resolution: ERA5: regridded to CERRA resolution (5.5km) using bicubic-interpolation, originally at 0.25° CERRA: 5.5km resolution File Structure included Example Data (further months/years can be downloaded from the source datasets, and preprocessed using the python scripts in the GitHub repository) CERRA: preprocessed for June 2020, + additional constant data and dataset statistics (min, max, mean, std.dev.) ERA5: preprocessed for June 2020 + additional constant data and dataset statistics (min, max, mean, std.dev.)
